The 1 hour long scheduled Regular Class sessions are held on Tuesday evenings at the Warrenton armory for 8 weeks and are for all dogs. If a class session is cancelled due to weather or Armory non-availability, makeup classes will be conducted as needed. Early enrollment is highly recommended due to class size limitations and popularity.
SCHEDULED CLASSES
Puppy Kindergarten – 7:00 PM: for puppies 10 weeks and under 6 months of age. This class provides a forum for individuals to learn about responsible dog ownership and an environment for socializing your new puppy with others of like age and with different people. Both structured elementary obedience training (sit, stay. come) and play activities (jumps, chutes, toys) are integrated in class presentations to introduce and reinforce proper behaviors and socialization.
Good Manners – 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM: for dogs over 6 months of age. This class introduces and reinforces in a structured environment the basic on and off lead obedience skills to your dog. Proper socialization around other dogs and people is reinforced. This training also provides the dog the skills necessary to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam given at the end of each session. CGC certification is the first step towards qualifying your dog as a Therapy Dog.
Show Handling - 7:00 PM: provides general information on the AKC organization, its rules and regulations, and the basics of exhibiting your dog in AKC conformation competition shows including class definitions, placements and championship point and title awards Overviews of the Superintendent and its role in AKC sanctioned events and the proper procedures and various means available to enter dog shows are provided. Personal attention is given by knowledgeable instructors on breed standards and the correct stacking, gaiting, and examination procedures to best present your dog for judge’s evaluation. Ring procedures and etiquette are introduced, practiced and reinforced in a simulated formal exhibition environment for both handler and dog
Beyond Basic – 8:00 PM: for dogs which have completed the Good Manners Class or all ready have equivalent obedience skills. This class introduces the dog to additional AKC obedience skills both on and off lead, and reinforces those skills all ready learned. The new AKC Rally obedience training and exhibition skills are introduced. The skills necessary for dogs and handlers to compete at the Pre-Novice and Novice level in AKC Obedience and Rally Trials are emphasized.
Show Drop-In – 8:00PM: an informal environment for handler and dog conformation ring practice. Show Drop-In class provides individuals and their dogs a simulated environment to practice conformation ring stacking, gaiting, and examination. An instructor will be present to manage and to emulate AKC ring activities. No formal structured instruction is provided.

TRAINING SESSION COSTS AND ENROLLMENT
Regular Classes – The enrollment fee for each 8 week Regular 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM Class session is $90.00. The Enrollment Form, fee, and required shot record copies must be submitted for each dog and scheduled class to ensure enrollment as specified on the Enrollment Form. Early enrollment to each Regular Class session is highly recommended due to class size limitations and popularity. A Rabies shot record copy is not required for puppies under 6 Months of age.
Show Drop-In - formal enrollment is not required. The cost for each Tuesday night Show Drop-In class is $7.00 for each handler who may practice that night with more than 1 dog.
Fees - make checks for each scheduled Regular Class submitted with the Enrollment Form payable to Warrenton Kennel Club. Checks are accepted but cash is preferred for each Show Drop-In class session.
